Two Poems - Frederick Chandler Jr.

True Love

Where is my darling
When I need him most?
So far away but yet so close.
My friend, my dove, my strength.
I long for the feel of your embrace.

The vast darkness of time
When you are not here
Brings tears
To my eyes
I need you, I want you
You are my flame in the night.

My heart is on my sleeve
My soul and insides are shown
Only to you.
You’re the one thing in my life that is true.
This is True Love.

Little Voice

I need my voice
I've realized this
For when I lost it
I could not speak or communicate
My world was bleak
I opened my mouth to scream
But nothing came out
I only hear the scream
Echo through my mind.

I cannot sing
I cannot make a melodious song
Like the mockingbirds do
Without my voice.
I feel dead.
I sit and stare
I can't talk
Just listen
People must think I'm shy
I want to speak
And I try
But only silence
Comes out of my mouth.
